Low Pressure Water Mist System

Product Category:Fire Fighting System

Machinery spaces and cargo pump rooms are areas on board ships where open-type nozzles shall be used. For the protection of these areas, multiple nozzles shall discharge water simultaneously — either as a total flooding system (IMO MSC.1/Circ.1165), whereby all nozzles within the same area are activated in the event of fire, or as a **local application system** where only a limited number of nozzles are activated simultaneously.

For such areas, we offer a range of products including open-type low-pressure water mist nozzles, control valves, and fire detection components. Fires in these areas can spread rapidly, causing severe damage and endangering the vessel, its crew, and the ports they visit.
  • Locations within machinery spaces — such as above main and auxiliary engines, fuel oil purifiers, boilers, burners, and incinerator burners — are primary areas of concern and high fire-risk zones.

To mitigate this fire risk, Category A machinery spaces containing oil-fired boilers or oil fuel units shall be fitted with fixed fire extinguishing systems (SOLAS II-2/10.5.1.1). Additionally, Category A machinery spaces with a volume exceeding 500 m³ shall be provided with an approved fixed water-based or equivalent local application fire-fighting system [SOLAS II-2/10.5.6.1].

Such fixed water-based local application fire-fighting systems are designed to provide rapid protection for the crew and affected machinery without requiring engine shutdown, personnel evacuation, or sealing of the fire-affected space.
